JFLA has served the LA, Santa Barbara and Ventura communities for over 100 years, providing more than 14,000 zero-interest loans with a 99% repayment rate. Every applicant is carefully vetted, and your donation goes directly into our loan fund — helping real people facing real emergencies.
Why loans instead of grants or gifts?
JFLA’s zero-interest loans preserve the dignity of the borrower and ensure that funds are recycled — when one loan is repaid, the money is used to help someone else. This model multiplies the impact of every donation over time.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes — JFLA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
What kinds of emergencies does JFLA help with?

Is this a religious organization? Do I have to be Jewish to donate or receive help?
